Modifying the Source and Destination Configuration

Hevo allows you to alter some of the settings of the Source and Destination configured in your Pipeline after it is created. The settings that cannot be changed are grayed out.

Refer to the following sections to modify your Source or Destination configuration:

Modifying the Source Configuration

Perform the following steps to modify the settings of the Source configured in your Pipeline:

Note:

  • Changing the Replication Slot setting resyncs your Pipeline, which reloads all the data from your Source. Hevo does not delete the replication slot that your Pipeline used earlier. Delete it in your Source database so that it stops retaining Write-Ahead Logs.

  • Changing the Database Host setting does not refresh your Source schema or resync your Pipeline.

  1. Log in to your Hevo account. By default, Pipelines is selected in the Navigation Bar.

  2. In the Pipelines List View, click the Pipeline for which you want to modify the Source settings to open its detailed view.

    Note: If your team was created before August 20, 2026, click the Edge tab to view your Edge Pipelines.

  3. Open the Source configuration screen. The steps vary depending on the Source configured in your Pipeline. Do one of the following:

    • For Pipelines configured with database Sources, such as MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server, click Edit in your Pipeline’s Summary bar. The Configure Source screen is displayed.

    • For Pipelines configured with other Sources, click Pipeline Setup in your Pipeline’s Tool Bar, and then click Edit in the Configure Source section.

  4. On the page that is displayed, you can change the settings specific to your Source type. Here, we are editing a PostgreSQL Source type:

    Note: The settings that cannot be modified are grayed out. For example, you cannot modify the Database Name field for PostgreSQL Sources, or the Database Name and Schema Name fields for SQL Server Sources. To ingest data from a different database, create a new Pipeline.

    • Source Name: A unique name for your Source, not exceeding 255 characters.

    • In the Connect to your PostgreSQL section:

      • Database Host: The PostgreSQL host’s IP address or DNS. For example, 10.123.10.001 or postgresql.westeros.inc.

      • Database Port: The port on which your PostgreSQL server listens for connections. Default value: 5432.

      • Database User: The user who has read-only permission on your database. As a different user may have access to a different set of objects, Hevo refreshes your Source schema when you modify this setting.

      • Database Password: The password for your database user. Click Change to replace it.

      • Publication Key: The name of the publication added in your Source database to track changes in the database tables. Hevo refreshes your Source schema when you modify this setting.

      • Replication Slot: The name of the replication slot created for your Source database to stream changes from the Write-Ahead Logs (WALs) to Hevo for incremental ingestion. Hevo resyncs your Pipeline when you modify this setting.

      Note: The Database Host, Publication Key, and Replication Slot settings are available only for PostgreSQL Sources configured with the Logical Replication Pipeline mode.

    • In the Log Monitoring section, based on the current selection, you can:

      • Enable or disable log monitoring for your Source. If enabled, the following can be modified:

        • Max WAL Size and Alert Threshold ( % ).

        • The Send Email option can be enabled or disabled. If enabled, you will receive alert notifications over email when the WAL size exceeds the specified alert threshold value.

    • In the Additional Settings section, you can modify the following based on your requirements:

      • Use SSH: If enabled, Hevo connects to your Source database through an SSH tunnel. You must add Hevo’s public key to the .ssh/authorized_keys file on your SSH server. If this option is turned off, you must configure your Source to accept connections from Hevo’s IP address(es).

      • Use SSL: If enabled, Hevo fetches data from your Source over an SSL-encrypted connection. You must upload the required server and client certificate files. If this option is turned off, Hevo does not use an SSL-encrypted connection.

  5. The steps to save your changes vary depending on the Source used while creating the Pipeline:

    • For Pipelines configured with database Sources, perform the following steps:

      1. Click Test & Continue to test the updated configuration. You can proceed only if the connection test succeeds. If the test fails, Hevo displays an error. Your changes are saved only when you click Save & Exit.

      2. Click Continue on the Configure Destination screen.

      3. Click Next on the Configure Pipeline and Configure Objects screens.

        The Configure Objects screen displays the objects available in your Source for the updated configuration.

      4. In the Confirm Changes dialog, click Confirm. This dialog appears when you click Next on the Configure Objects screen, and asks you to review your changes before proceeding, as some changes may require a resync.

      5. On the Review screen, verify your changes. The modified settings are highlighted in bold. If you have not modified any setting, nothing is highlighted.

      6. Click Save & Exit to apply the modified configuration to your Pipeline.

        Hevo continues to run your Pipeline on its existing configuration until you click Save & Exit.

    • For Pipelines configured with other Sources, click Test & Save to test the updated configuration and then save it.

Hevo applies the modified Source configuration to your Pipeline in the next sync schedule. A job that is already in progress finishes on the configuration it started with.

Modifying the Destination Configuration

Perform the following steps to modify the settings of the Destination configured in your Pipeline:

Note: Modifying the Destination settings affects all Pipelines configured to use that Destination.

  1. Log in to your Hevo account. By default, Pipelines is selected in the Navigation Bar.

  2. Do one of the following:

    • To modify the Destination from your Pipeline:

      1. In the Pipelines List View, click the Pipeline for which you want to modify the Destination settings to open its detailed view.

        Note: If your team was created before August 20, 2026, click the Edge tab to view your Edge Pipelines.

      2. Click Pipeline Setup in your Pipeline’s Tool Bar, and in the Destination Configuration section, click Edit.

    • To modify the Destination from the Destinations page:

      1. In the Navigation Bar, click Destinations.

      2. In the Destinations List View, click the Destination for which you want to modify the settings to open its detailed view.

      3. Do one of the following:

        • Click the More ( ) icon to access the Destination Actions menu, and then click Edit Destination.

        • In the Destination Configuration section, click Edit.

  3. On your <Destination Name> editing page, you can modify the settings specific to your Destination type. Here, we are editing a Snowflake Destination type:

    Note: The settings that cannot be modified are grayed out.

    • Destination Name: Specify a name, not exceeding 255 characters, for your Destination.

    • In the Authentication section, you can modify your Authentication type and then, based on the selected type, update the necessary fields:

      • Key Pair:

        • Private Key: Click the attach () icon to upload your encrypted or non-encrypted private key file. As the database user configured in your Destination cannot be changed, ensure that the public key corresponding to the uploaded private key is assigned to it.

        • Passphrase: Click Change to clear the field. If you uploaded an encrypted private key, provide the password used to generate it; otherwise, leave the field blank.

      • Access Credentials:

        • Database Password: Click Change to specify the password for the user configured in your Destination.

  4. Click TEST & SAVE to test the changed configuration and then save it.

Hevo picks the modified Destination configuration in the following sync schedule.
