Working with Targets (Edge)

Activate is currently available for Early Access. Please contact your Hevo account executive or the Support team to enable it for your team. Alternatively, request for early access to try out one or more such features.

A Target connects Activate to the business application that receives your data. It represents an account-level connection, not a specific record type, so you can reuse the same Target across multiple Activations.

Each Activation specifies the Target object that receives the data. For example, two Activations can use the same Target to send data to different types of records in the application.

Read Familiarizing with the Targets UI for information about viewing and managing your Targets. For the steps to create a Target, refer to the documentation for your respective Target type. You can rename a Target after you create it, and reauthorize it if it loses access to the application. Read Managing Targets for the steps.

Note: A Target cannot be deleted while an Activation uses it. Delete the connected Activations before deleting the Target. Read Deleting a Target for the steps.

Target Objects

A Target object is the type of record in a Target application that receives data. For example, in HubSpot, contacts and companies are different Target objects. You select the Target object while creating an Activation, which means:

  • One Target can be used by multiple Activations. Each Activation can send data to a different Target object within the same business application.

  • Each Activation writes to exactly one Target object. To send data to multiple Target objects, create a separate Activation for each one.

  • The fields available for mapping depend on the Target object you choose, because each object has its own set of fields that you can map.

  • The sync behaviors available depend on the Target object, because each object supports its own set of sync behaviors.

Refer to the documentation for your respective Target type for the list of supported Target objects and the sync behaviors available for each object.
