Alerts
Hevo provides you visibility into the running of your system through alerts. Hevo has strict policies and does not send you unwanted alerts. Alerts are sent to you whenever an incident that requires your attention occurs in the system. You can manage alerts through the Hevo Dashboard.
Hevo can send alerts to email address(es) which may include:
-
Your registered email ID in Hevo
-
Any other individual or group email address
-
Any email address(es) configured with alerting tools like Opsgenie and PagerDuty
-
Any email address(es) configured to Slack channel(s)
You can also integrate your Slack account with Hevo to receive alerts. Read Getting Alerts in Third-Party Applications to know how to enable integration with Slack, Opsgenie, PagerDuty, and ServiceNow.
You can configure your alert preferences to receive alerts about the following events:
Pipeline-related: Hevo sends a notification whenever a Pipeline connection fails, a Source fails, that is, the Pipeline cannot ingest data from it, or the data usage exceeds the daily limit, or you are about to exhaust your available Events. In addition, Hevo also sends a summary of all the Events that failed, along with their count every 3 hours.
Schema-related: Hevo sends schema-related alerts in the following scenarios:
-
Whenever you drop a table in the Destination, Hevo deletes the corresponding mapping, and an alert is sent to all the team members.
Note: If Auto Mapping is enabled, Hevo recreates the deleted table in the Destination during the next Pipeline run. If you do not want this table to be created again, disable Auto Mapping.
-
If a column (string or decimal) in the Destination is resized. For example, suppose the Destination column length is 20 characters, but the length of the Source field mapped to it is 40 characters. Then, Hevo resizes the column in the Destination table to a value greater than 40, and sends you an alert for it.
Model-related: Whenever a Model fails, Hevo sends a notification with the reason for the failure.
Workflow-related: Whenever a Workflow fails, Hevo sends a notification with the reason for the failure.
Activation-related: Hevo sends schema-related alerts in the following scenarios:
-
Whenever an Activation run fails, or if an Activation fails to connect to the configured Target or Warehouse.
-
When the Activation recovers from these failures.
Target-related: Hevo sends a notification whenever a Target fails or recovers from a failure.
dbt Model-related: Hevo sends a notification whenever a dbt Model fails or recovers from a failure.
