Field Mapping
Field mapping defines how the data from your Warehouse must be stored in the Target objects.
You can use the Field Mapping feature to map the data warehouse fields with the fields and rows of the Target object and table respectively. Field mapping is done after you filter the data to be synchronized using the SQL Query Editor.
As part of field mapping, you map the query fields to the Target object fields. All the data queried from the data warehouse is mapped and synchronized with the Target object. The Target object fields could be:
-
Required fields: The fields that you must map to the query fields. These fields are necessary for the data synchronization to be successful and could be either identifiers or mandatory fields. Mandatory fields are the ones required by the Target APIs, which Activate uses to synchronize data with the Target objects. For information on identifiers, read Data Synchronization Identifiers.
-
Optional fields: The fields that you can omit from loading to the Target object. You can omit a field when you want to hide sensitive information, such as your user’s personal details and financial information. You can also omit large text fields like descriptions, summaries, and comments to optimally utilize storage.
